GOING GREEN WITHIN THE WORLD OF PUBLISHING
The Little Yoga Warriors project is based in large part on respect for the natural environment and the belief that we must care for our planet so that future generations will grow up knowing the same natural beauty we have. We are, therefore, committed to creating a product that is environmentally friendly. For this reason, we have chosen to work with two companies who are activley involved with this vision in mind.
Monroe Litho, (settled) in Rochester, NY, receives 100% of its energy through wind power. They were also recently certified as a Chain-of-Custody supplier by the Forest Stewardship Council, which ensures that the wood and pulp used in the production process are grown, harvested and manufactured to extrememly high environmental standards to ensure that the forests remain to be a renewable source.
Mohawk Fine Papers Inc, based in Cohoes, NY is considered the largest paper mill in Northern America. (In 2003) They were the first, largest paper manufacture to derive a significant amount of its energy from wind power: 45 Million Kwh. They are also certified under the FSC and Green- e; a third party program that certifies purchases of saleable Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs) from accredited production sources. ALL of Mohawks paper is 100% Chlorine free.
We will be working in conjunction with Monroe Litho and Mohawk Fine Papers Inc, to ensure we give our customers the best quality of sustainable printing. We will be printing on 100% PCW reycled paper that is 100% chlorine and acid free, and using soy based inks within our Little Yoga Warrior book line.
We believe that by introducing such terms as: Green, Recycled and Organic Cotton at an early age, this will allow children to realize the difference they can make in the world and within themselves. They will begin to develop a deeper connection to the world around them.
